Optimization of steel materials and process routes
In our vacuum induction furnaces, we develop and optimize steels, non-ferrous metals and reference metals. We produce melts with weights of 2, 10, 100 and 300 kg. Melting and subsequent casting in ingot molds are performed under shielding gas.
The melt equipment’s specially lined crucibles also enable us to produce special alloys. These include:
- Aluminum and copper alloys
- Cobalt and nickel-based alloys
- High melting point intermetallic phases
- Reference metals for chemical analysis
Once the head and tail scrap has been eliminated, various rolling and cooling strategies can be applied to the resulting melts during further processing in our experimental rolling mills – as whole units or after segmentation into smaller specimens.
