Alloy design
Steel – an old material, yet very modern
Tailored to meet our customer’s requirements
We develop and optimize steels from laboratory scale to industrial series production. Decades of experience, comprehensive, state-of-the-art equipment, and strong customer focus are the guaranty for quality and success.
Our material portfolio ranges from low-allow steels to nickel-based materials and non-ferrous metals. The microstructure determines the resulting product properties. In order to adjust them to meet specific requirements, we work with numerical simulation and experiments along the entire production chain.
And here’s how we do it:
- We use material modeling to determine the effect of alloy composition on the stability of microstructure constituents
- Vacuum induction furnaces: Here we create laboratory melts. They can then either be rolled in our laboratory or immediately undergo further industrial processing.
- Characterization of material properties
Product properties depend on both the microstructure and the production process. Variations in the production process lead to modified microstructure and properties.
We strive to achieve a defined microstructure that represents the desired properties and design the production process accordingly.
