The fifth “International Conference on Steels in Cars and Trucks” or SCT2017 took place in the Netherlands not far from Amsterdam from June 18 to 22, 2017 (https://www.sct2017.com/).
The event’s motto is as sustainable as steel itself:
“Bringing the automotive, supplier and steel industries together.”
"Future trends in steel development, processing technologies and applications".
Salzgitter AG, principally SZMF and SZFG, was represented with seven top-level lectures and its own stand (add picture of stand, should already have been sent). The stand allowed us to further raise awareness about the Initiative Automotive.
Like the numerous technical discussions that accompanied the event, the lectures and exhibits centered around innovative products and new or optimized testing methods. Our speakers put their hearts and souls into their work.
There was also an emphasis on listening to the customers’ future requirements in order to get an early start in choosing the right direction for new product developments. The shop talk continued during the breaks and during the event’s supporting program. The latest developments and results were debated and new problems were identified. This underscores that “steel does not belong on the scrap heap - instead, it is a preferred problem solver when it comes to overcoming the challenges of our increasingly global society!”
The constantly growing number of participants from 21 countries, including China, India, and the US, shows the event's high caliber. With some 480 attendees, the event posted a record number of visitors for the second time running. Important to remember: Our customers (OEM and supply industry) honor this with their participation, and employees from many automakers, including five truck manufacturers, took part.
It would appear that all signals are go for SCT2020 and the only question now is where will it be Held?
